this is the Understanding and Differences of RDP and VPS | Remote Desktop Protocol, Virtual Private Server

meet again with me, in this post I will discuss about what the understanding of RDP and VPS and How to use it, let's just see the review.

What is RDP?
RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) is a remote "Remote Computer" method.

Remote Desktop Connection

What is a "Remote Computer"?
Remote Computers ie we can run programs and applications from other computers from the location we are.

For example:
Your Location in Surabaya, Then you have Computer (Online 24 Hours) Being Singapore. You can run the application on your Computer which is Singapore from Indonesia by using RDP Protocol.

What are the advantages of RDP?
RDP is usually used to handle programs without having to turn on your computer 24 hours full, as for the various advantages of RDP such as:
  1. Online 24 Hours
  2. Can be accessed anytime and anywhere (PC / Laptop / Smartphone / etc)
  3. Make it easy to run applications in real time 24 hours (Like BOT)
  4. When our computer / pc is shut down, it will not interfere with RDP server, RDP will stay online 24 hours according to its server.
  5. Equipped with Internet up to 1 Gbps (very suitable for you who have blog download, used for download/upload)
  6. Unlimited Traffic / Quota (When you use RDP, the internet, hard drive, quota/traffic directly from the RDP server)
  7. Can run heavy programs (depending on product specifications offered)
What is a VPS?
VPS (Virtual Private Network) is a server that is divided into VM (Virtual Machine). In this VM we can install os according to our needs (this depends on the type of the VPS.

Virtual Privat Server

What Functions / Advantages of VPS?
Lots of VPS functions in general such as:
  1. For Websites (Web Hosting)
  2. For Running Certain Programs
  3. To Save Backup Data
  4. To Create a VPN (OpenVPN / PPTP / etc)
  5. To Become a Torrent Leech / RapidLeech
  6. For Proxy Private / Tunneling
  7. For Video / Audio Encoding / etc
Excess VPS:
  1. Dedicated IPv4 / IPv6 (Public)
  2. Getting Full Source (CPU / RAM / HDD)
  3. 1 VPS 1 Account (Private)
  4. Free Reinstall OS anytime via VPS Panel
  5. Suitable for websites that have many visitors per day
  6. Suitable for doing heavy activities like video encoding (only Windows KVM VPS)
In VPS (KVM) type, you can use all sources on VPS, for example, CPU / RAM / HDD, you can use all those things 100% without fear of being suspended.

Operating What systems are available on VPS?
In general, this depends on the type of virtualization you buy.
  1. OpenVZ = Only Linux
  2. XEN = Linux & Windows
  3. KVM = Linux & Windows
Linux = CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, CloudLinux, etc.
Windows = Windows Server 2003/2008/2012/2016 (Recommended) etc.

Especially on our VPS, we use KVM Type Virtualization so you can use VPS with WINDOWS OS on VPS.

Login Username Default for VPS what .. ??
Default if you finish installing OS on VPS for default username :
  • Linux = root
  • Windows = Administrator
The basic differences in VPS & RDP are:
  1. Access rights
  2. Source (CPU / RAM / HDD)
  3. OS Variation (Operating System)
-------------------------------------
Access rights
  • RDP (Remote Dekstop Protocol)
In RDP, you usually only get USER Permissions, where if you need software installation, you should contact the admin first
  • VPS (Virtual Private Server)
On VPS, you will get "FULL ADMINISTRATOR" permissions, you can install any software on your VPS without having to contact the admin first
Source (CPU / RAM / HDD)
  • RDP (Remote Dekstop Protocol)
In RDP, CPU / RAM usage is severely curtailed, if you commit a violation (ABUSE) on CPU / RAM / HDD, your RDP account can be temporarily SUSPEND up to PERMANENT. (In accordance with TOS RDP).
  • VPS (Virtual Private Server)
In VPS, you can use CPU / RAM / HDD full 100% without worry tersuspend (In accordance with TOS VPS).
OS Variation (Operating System)
  • RDP (Remote Dekstop Protocol)
In RDP, the use of getting access with the OS already installed, you can not replace the OS on your RDP.
  • VPS (Virtual Private Server)
On VPS, you can change your OS according to your VPS type, you are free to install os on your vps from linux => windows or from windows => linux, can use template or ISO.
-------------------------------------
Advantages of VPS (Virtual Private Server) Compared RDP:
  • Automatic VPS Activation, when we receive VPS payment, your VPS will be automatically active with the default linux os.
  • FULL ADMINISTRATOR, free to install anything (full access) on your vps.
  • you can install your VPS with Windows OS, thus your VPS has become RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) or you can replace with Linux and your vps can be web hosting for your website
  • Getting a VPS PANEL (Can Re-Install, Reboot, Boot, Shutdown, VNC, etc. on your VPS)
